I'M A NEW CHRISTIAN

classes sundays at 6:OOpM

Salvation is more than just a prayer, it's a lifestyle!
God has called us out of this world to be His own special people.
As a result of that, we are called to be different, we are called to represent Christ.

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvellous light. - 1 Peter 2:9 ESV
Being a Christian is to be like Jesus. Jesus' life was lived for one purpose only and that is to fulfill the will of the Father.
He did not live for Himself, He did not live for His own agenda. He lived completely dedicated to the will of the Father

And every Christian is called to live this life.
Paul the apostle wrote in Galatians 2:20 ESV
I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

God saved us from our sins, so we can become more like Him.
However, this doesn't happen naturally or automatically.
There are things that you and I need to do in order to become more like Jesus.

1. Pray

Go to God daily in prayer
Prayer is talking to God.
Prayer is the primary way for the believer in Jesus Christ to communicate his emotions and desires with God and to fellowship with God.

Life is filled with ups and downs, so many times in life we are worried and anxious, but when we go to God in prayer, he gives us peace.

Peace is God's answer to prayer, even when circumstances don't change.

1 Thessalonians 5:17 (ESV)
 pray without ceasing,

Read

Reading the bible is God's way of speaking to you.

God has given us instructions on how to live the Christian life and it's impossible to live right without following His instructions. The bible is God's instructions on how we are to live and deal with every day issues of life.

2 Timothy 3:16-17 ESV
All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 that the man of God[a] may be complete, equipped for every good work.

Church

God’s Word teaches the importance of active participation in a local church. Believers must make church attendance a priority in their personal and family schedules and put going to church ahead of other seemingly beneficial activities.  However, church attendance is not enough for the Christian, the Christian must be an active participant.  We are more than fans in uniform, we are the players on the team.

- Church is God's idea
- Church is where we are taught the word of God which enables us to grow spiritually
- Church is where we learn to serve and utilize our spiritual gifts
- Church is where we connect with other believers
Church is God's method for evangelism and winning the lost.

Relationships

The greatest commandment in the bible is to love God and to love your neighbour as yourself.
In Christianity we cannot have a good relationship with God without have a good relationship with others.
1  John 4:20 ESV
20 If anyone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot[a] love God whom he has not seen.

One of the key component to Christian growth is sharing life together and being surrounded by the right people.

We need people in our lives that will keep us accountable, that will encourage us, people we can talk to about our weakness and struggles.

My encouragement to you is to find the RIGHT spiritual people within your local congregation that will help you to grow.
